March 21st “Hootenanny” – An immensely popular folk music TV show that aired for two seasons in 1963 and 1964. It became controversial when it blacklisted Pete Seeger and the Weavers for their left-wing politics. Other performers, most notably Joan Baez, then boycotted appearing on the show. I only saw “Hootenanny” one time but it was a memorable experience because it was the night I got arrested for inciting a race riot.
